In the Project Management Essentials YouTube trailer, author Marc Carrier shares why he created the training and what it was designed to accomplish for homeschool teens and their families. This is not a transcript, but a written text which imparts similar content to what is in the video trailer.

Since the Lord has created your children and endowed them with such diverse inclinations and aptitudes, it is incumbent upon you, as a mentor and instructor, to equip them for success as they pursue any of the myriad options available to them for future income generation. So this begs the question: what can you do to prepare your children to be in demand for their skill and aptitude, yet avoid pigeonholing them for employment in a specific vertical market?

Some of your children may choose to become entrepreneurs and business owners, others tradesmen, still others retailers, yet others professionals, or even foreign missionaries. What possible skill sets can you provide your children to meet such a broad range of possibilities? What could prepare them for any and all of these endeavors? Project management!

Fresh out of college, I became a field technician with an environmental services company and within a few short years, through Providence and hard work, was promoted to project management, eventually heading up the largest program in the corporation. I was thrust into the flames with little prior training, but persevered to lead the most successful program of the company. In this environment, I acquired skills that I would ultimately leverage in every area of life: home business, home management, parenting, and even ministry.

It was at the peak of my career in that company that the Lord tugged on my heart to come home. At the same time, an offer was extended to use the same project management skills that I had mastered in the environmental industry in a completely unrelated field. This new endeavor, now in the IT industry, allowed me to work from home with unrivaled flexibility. For this company, training had also become a new and central role. I became a training developer and instructor for technology, consulting, and yes, project management. I was now afforded the opportunity to impart these valuable management skills to others.

Concurrently, my wife, Cindy, and I had been writing books and ministering to a growing number of families. The management skills acquired once again proved vital, allowing proficient development of our resources and sound management of the complex, growing enterprise. Now, I am happy to say, this endeavor receives my undivided attention, and my tenure of corporate enslavement has ended. Yet the project management skills continue to be fully utilized for publishing, ministry, and even our day-to-day family experiences.

What I have learned through this journey—managing the big and the small, secular and spiritual, work-related and family-oriented—is that the project management discipline has been paramount to success in all of my endeavors. Likewise, I learned that career success, corporate mobility, employment flexibility, and entrepreneurial confidence were achieved in part, by God’s good grace, hard work, and project management skills. Project management skills are universal and desirable in all industries. As long as services are needed, products are developed, and stuff needs to get done, project management skills will be in demand. This is certainly what I desire for my own children’s future!

Likewise, I want to make this training available to you for use in your family. My goal with this endeavor was not to make the most eye-pleasing and attention-grabbing presentation possible, but rather to impart the knowledge and skills that will most benefit you, your children, and thier future. I wanted the package to be comprehensive, practical, and (perhaps most importantly) affordable. In the corporate world, I presented Project+ certification training for upwards of $1,000 per student. I think this DVD package represents a significant value--with solid content--at only $124.95.

We intentionally developed this product "in house" to make it more affordable, so the production isn't professional but it is very good--and the content itself is more than worth the price. We believe that if the Lord is leading you to purchase this training course, you will benefit from it. You will learn project management principles and how to practically apply them in every area of life, so that you will be able to make the most of every opportunity for His Kingdom and His glory.
